LAGOS COMMENDS NIGERIA SCHOOLS’ SPORTS FEDERATION
The Lagos State Ministry of Education has commended the Nigeria Schools Sports Federation (NSSF) for its tremendous role in promoting sports and providing adequate security for participants.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Olutokunboh Adeleye, gave the commendation while welcoming its members on a courtesy visit to the Ministry as part of activities lined up for the commencement of the 21st Nestle Milo Championship taking place in Lagos.
Adeleye said the State is looking forward to hosting the forthcoming games, stressing that, ”Education and Sports develop students’ instincts and strength. It brings to bear the totality of what education means, just as it serves as a veritable tool that takes children off social vices”.
On the forthcoming National Schools Festival and the participation of the State in the event, Mrs. Adeleye assured the delegates of the Ministry of Education’s readiness to interface with the Ministry of Youths and Social Development on the possibilities.
On her part, Director, Co-curricular, Mrs. Busola Agagu thanked N.S.S.F for deeming it fit to hold the Sports fiesta in Lagos, adding that the Co-curricular Department of the Ministry has always been involved in activities that would help develop the psyche of students.
Earlier, the visiting team leader and President, NSSF, Mallam Ibrahim stated that the Federation was saddled with the responsibility of School Sports with the aim of “Catching them young” and grooming them to become future champions.
Mallam Mohammed Ibrahim, represented by the General Secretary, N.S.S.F, South-West – Mr. Olarotimi Okeleye, described NSSF schools’ sport as a biosocial phenomenon that brings different people together.
