LAGOS OEQA CONTINUES TOUR OF COORDINATING OFFICES, ZONES
The Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) team has continued its working tour to coordinating offices and zones across the State.
The team, led by the Director of Private Education and Special Programmes, Mrs. Fambi Falayi recently visited Education District I and was received on arrival by the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Mr. Bashir Adebowale.
During the visit, Mrs. Falayi stated that the Office of Education Quality Assurance supports schools in ensuring that they get it right by collaborating and synergizing with School authorities to move education below the tertiary level forward.
She emphasised that there was a need for teachers and learners to be punctual in school to ensure proper learning outcomes.
In his response, the TG/PS, Mr. Bashir Adebowale commended the team for the visit, saying it was a welcome development and it should be regular.
He recalled when Education Inspectors used to make regular visits to schools to instill some level of discipline among teachers.
According to him, “In those days the fear of Inspectors of Education was the beginning of wisdom for teachers because they (Inspectors) make or mar the learning process”.
He explained further that Evaluators were called Inspectors in those days and they paid regular visits to schools to ensure that teachers were on their toes.
While affirming that OEQA serves as a check and balance to schools for effective quality control, he assured the OEQA team of his support where and when necessary.
The team also visited coordinating and zonal offices in Districts VI and II.
