LAGOS ALLAYS FEARS OF PARENTS OVER CBT EXAMS
… Holds CBT Entrance Exam For Model Colleges And Upgraded Schools
The Lagos State Government has allayed the fears of parents and guardians that the education policies and reforms, especially in technology as a learning aid and means of assessment, will not deprive their children of any opportunities.
The Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, stated this today at the flag-off of the Computer Based Test (CBT) Entrance Examination for Model Colleges and Upgraded Schools holding at six locations across the State.
Mrs. Adefisayo counselled parents to be calm and not be disturbed over the new test approach as the children of nowadays are very smart, stressing that efforts of the government in the education sector are to make the future better for them.
“We’ll do our best to ensure that we give our students optimum support to realise their goals and aspirations”, the Commissioner said.
Speaking further, Adefisayo enthused that the introduction of the CBT examination is the first-of-its-kind across the Federation and in tandem with the Education and Technology Agenda of the State, adding that the new approach will enable the students to attempt questions through the use of computers and mobile gadgets.
According to the Commissioner, the initiative is a huge investment by the government, aimed at reducing examination abnormalities such as malpractices and missing results among other limiting factors.
Her words: “There is no hanky-panky about this examination, the results are immediate, clear and transparent, therefore, parents should encourage their children to acquaint themselves with the use of computer systems as well as embrace new technology”.
She stated that the Ministry has recently reviewed the school’s curriculum in which ICT was included, stressing that sitting for the examination does not require a top-level technology-savvy child, as students are only required to read the questions, click the right answers and submit them at the end of the examination.
